About the Discount Calculator
Sales signs are easy to read and hard to compare. This discount calculator shows the final price you pay and the amount you save for any percentage off, so you can judge a deal quickly in the shop or online.
How to use the Discount Calculator
- Enter the Original price.
- Enter the Discount as a percentage.
- Read You pay and You save.
Good to know
- Two discounts do not simply add up. 20% off followed by another 10% off is 28% off in total, not 30%, because the second discount applies to the already reduced price.
- Check whether a shop adds tax or delivery after the discount. Those costs change the real price.
- A bigger percentage on a higher original price can still cost more than a smaller discount on a cheaper item. Compare the final prices.
Frequently asked questions
How is a discount calculated?
Multiply the price by the discount percentage divided by 100 to get the saving, then subtract the saving from the price.
Can I find the original price from a sale price?
Divide the sale price by 1 minus the discount. For example, a 25% off price of 750 means the original was 1,000.
Does it work with any currency?
Yes. The numbers are the same in any currency.
